Article #74: Vintage 1920's Nu Grape Soda Bottle

Here is our 74th article where we are looking at this vintage 1920's Nu Grape soda bottle. NuGrape was created in 1906 and was first bottled in 1921. The National NuGrape Company was founded in April 1933 in Atlanta, GA. Something interesting to note about Nu Grape is that around 1923, a man by the name of Gary Armour had an idea to make a soda bottle shaped car. It was a Chevy chassis in a bottle shape. It was designed by the Mercury Body Corporation for Nu Grape. The front and back of the bottle look the same where you have the Nu Grape writing with a star behind it. This one was bottled in Bristol, Virginia. Nu Grape began operations in Bristol in 1924 at 1109 West State Street. They bottled Nu Grape and Nu Icy at this location.
