Article #67: Vintage 1940's Lime Cola Soda Bottle

In our 67th article we are looking at this vintage 1940's Lime Cola soda bottle. This bottle has an Applied Color Label (ACL). Soda shops were adding lime to soda's as far back as the late 1800's and this brand was one of the first to be tested by Teddy Roosevelt's homes commission in 1908 where it was then listed that it was produced by the Alabama grocery Company of Birmingham, Alabama. Lime Cola was incorporated in July 1915 and offered franchises soon after that. J.A. Adair was president, William M. Chapman was vice president and D.C. Knox was secretary. By 1939 they had ACL bottles that were 7 ounces and 12 ounces. Then in February 1947, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope had acquired a substantial part of Lime Cola. The 2 men were active in promoting the drink. They even included the drink in their 5th movie. Lime Cola went bankrupt in March 1948. The front of the bottle has the Lime Cola logo at the top and in the middle and here we are looking at the middle of the bottle.
Here is a close up of the logo at the top of the bottle,
Here is a look at the back of the bottle where it points out that it is a 7 ounce bottle.
