Article #113: Vintage 1963 Patio Diet Cola Soda Bottle

In this new article, we are taking a look at this vintage 1963 Patio Diet Cola soda bottle. The drink was created as a response to Diet Rite coming out around the same time. It was promoted as an alternative for diabetics.

Patio released several flavors n 1964, consisting of orange, grape and root beer to name a few. The flavor line was meant to compete with Orange Crush. They were avlaiable in grocery stores as well as mom and pop stores.

The bottlers were franchised regionally and advertising was few and far between. Patio Diet Cola only lasted for one year as it became Diet Pepsi in 1964. It was advertised along with Pepsi once it was rebranded.

The front and back of this bottle look the same with the logo at the top of the bottle. It also has a diamond shaped design as well.

Here is a look at the ingredients.

Here is a look at the bottom of the bottle.
